MANCITY YAYA TOURE SCORES A FIRST HART-TRICK IN EPL IN 5-0 WIN OVER FULHAM.

No slip-up, no contest and almost no sweat. Manchester City prepared for Tuesday's trip to Old Trafford with an exercise in ruthless efficiency as Yaya Touré led a rout of Fulham with his first hat-trick in English football. Felix Magath was left incensed at a lack of fight from the Premier League's bottom club. On this form, his men look condemned. Manuel Pellegrini's team look in control.
City's biggest league win since November resembled a training session for the final half hour as they prised apart Fulham without performing close to their fluent, commanding best. Their manager withdrew the outstanding Touré, who now has 20 goals for the season, David Silva and Samir Nasri in the closing stages in readiness for the Manchester derby, the first of two testing away games next week that can shape City's attempt to overhaul Chelsea at the summit, such was their comfort level.
Fernandinho and Martín Demichelis completed the scoring against a Fulham team reduced to 10 men when the hapless Fernando Amorebieta was sent off early in the second half. The range of goals was a perfectly timed illustration of City's power with their leading strikers injured, ill or, in the case of Álvaro Negredo, struggling to finish from three yards.
"At this part of the season it is important to have the balance between scoring and not conceding easy goals. Fulham is a team that defends well but we played well, we were a balanced team and we had patience. Winning is always good preparation for the next game and to win 5-0 is important, but we must forget about this now and move on because a derby is always a special match," said Pellegrini.
Negredo missed a great chance to make it six and impress in the absence of the hamstrung Sergio Agüero and under-the-weather Edin Dzeko, but played a pivotal part in turning the game by winning a soft penalty following a slight touch from Amorebieta.
Magath's team had been comfortable until the 25th minute incident, with City labouring. Once behind, however, Fulham's belief evaporated.
The Spanish forward showed good determination to beat Amorebieta to James Milner's long ball into the box but looked as though he had been slain by an assassin's bullet when he got there. The referee, Jon Moss, was unmoved but his assistant, Ian Hussin, spotted a slight touch on Negredo's backside from the Fulham defender's boot and signalled for a spot-kick. Once the protests had subsided, Touré sent David Stockdale the wrong way from 12 yards.
There was little fluency to the home side yet they could have been three goals ahead by the interval. Not a bad sign when pursuing the title. Amorebieta's one positive contribution was to clear off the line from Silva after he collected Fernandinho's pass, wriggled free inside the area and clipped over the advancing Stockdale. Aleksandar Kolarov also side-footed against the bar from Silva's lay-off down the left.
After the interval, however, the rain stopped, the sun appeared and City cruised towards victory without breaking into a sprint. There may have been doubt over the first penalty decision but Amorebieta gave Moss no alternative but to point to the spot for a second time and dismiss the already-booked Venezuelan when he sent Silva sprawling. The spot-kick routine did not change; Stockdale went low to his left as Touré converted to the goalkeeper's right.
The midfielder completed his hat-trick in stunning fashion shortly afterwards. Nasri played a free-kick square to Touré and, from 25 yards, he curled an exquisite shot beyond the despairing dive of Stockdale. City's fourth also impressed as Milner found Fernandinho with a clever corner and the Brazilian hit an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net. The onslaught was not over for the sorry visitors as Demichelis tapped into an open net after Stockdale parried the substitute Stevan Jovetic's shot into his path.
"Until the first penalty it was not bad," said Magath, the Fulham manager. "In my opinion it was not a penalty and it gifts power to City. It was a bad moment for us but that is no reason to stop playing. The team did not seem to believe we could win after the first goal. The penalty changed the whole atmosphere and the players didn't have the confidence to change the situation."

CHELSEA DEFEATS ARSENAL 6-0 IN WENGER 1000TH GAME.

Chelsea ripped apart Premier League title rivals Arsenal in a 6-0 mauling at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to ensure Arsene Wenger's 1,000th game turned into a nightmare for him and blundering referee Andre Marriner.
Goals from Samuel Eto'o, Andre Schuerrle, Eden Hazard, Oscar (2) and Mohamed Salah coupled with Marriner's decision to send off Kieran Gibbs for a handball by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will ensure Wenger remembers the day for all the wrong reasons.
The sending-off did little to affect the destination of the points, however, as Arsenal were already 2-0 down when Gibbs was dismissed for his team mate's indiscretion and Hazard stepped up to covert the resulting penalty.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho extended his unbeaten record against his bitter managerial rival to 11 games and the league leaders moved seven points clear of third-placed Arsenal having played a game more.
Second-placed Liverpool, who are also seven points adrift of Chelsea with two games in hand, visit Cardiff City later on Saturday and Manchester City, in fourth, host bottom club Fulham.

ZIMBABWE PROPHET SEES RED WILL WIN THE EPL TITLE.

JOHANNESBURG: A Zimbabwean prophet has launched a US$1.5 million (RM4.95 million) legal claim against a South African sports broadcaster after it claimed he had predicted that Liverpool would win this season's English Premier League, it was reported on Wednesday.

Despite the fact that Liverpool are currently second in the league with just 10 games to play, Spirit Embassy Church leader, Uebert Angel, denies ever making the claim.
He says his reputation will be damaged if they do not win the title.
"The plaintiff claims the sum of US$1,500,000 considering his character and stature as a prophet with great following... who is respected the world over by religious, social and political leaders," stated the summons filed in Harare High Court.
He says he is entitled to compensation as it would be "difficult to rehabilitate completely a reputation even if it is proved in court that the statement was misguided...".
Angel said that Johannesburg-based Supersport published the story on its website last December.
The prediction, as published on www.supersport.com, was headlined: "Zimbabwean prophet predicts Liverpool to win title."
The Herald newspaper, quoted the Angel as saying: "Liverpool, I am with you this year and God has shown me he is returning you to your glory days."
SuperSport broadcasts live English Premier League matches in several African countries.
The league enjoys a big following, where fans place bets and congregate at bars to follow their teams.

VAN PERSIE DENIES RUMOURS THAT HE WANTS TO LEAVE MANCHESTER UNITED.

Robin van Persie has slammed speculation that he is unhappy at Manchester United and wants to quit the troubled Premier League champions.
Van Persie was reported to be disgruntled with life at United following Alex Ferguson's retirement at the end of last season and the Dutch striker's relatively poor form this term has added to the impression that all is not well.
There has been speculation van Persie's relationship with United manager David Moyes is rocky, while the former Arsenal star spoke critically about his team-mates' performance following the recent 2-0 last 16 first leg defeat at Olympiakos in the Champions League.
The 30-year-old was visibly unhappy with Moyes' decision to substitute him in Saturday's 3-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion, with referee Jon Moss having to point van Persie off the pitch as the Dutchman shook his head, obviously displeased with the choice to haul him off after 60 minutes.
But van Persie on Thursday hit back at rumours that he wanted to leave in an exclusive interview with United's match-day programme.
"I don't mind if my performances get dissected and people criticise what I've done on the pitch. They can talk about my game 24/7 for all I care and a lot of those opinions and criticisms may actually be right. So I don't mind that," van Persie told United Review.
"What I need to address are the situations when people are taking it upon themselves to think for me, make assumptions, or interpret things as if they are me.
"Last time I checked my head was still attached to my body, so I'm the only one who knows exactly what I'm feeling and that is not what I or the fans have been reading.
"The truth is I'm very happy here at this club. I signed for four years and I'd be delighted to stay even longer, beyond the next two years I have left on my contract.
"This is how I feel, although it's not what has been suggested in the media."
United have endured a dismal first season under Moyes, crashing out of both domestic cups and falling 18 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Van Persie, who scored 30 times in his first campaign with United following a £24 million move from Arsenal, has been well below his best this season, netting just 14 goals.
But he was keen to make it clear he has no problems with Moyes or the rest of the United's squad, adding: "I'm very happy with my team-mates and I'm very happy with my manager and his staff.
"The sessions we have on the training ground are fantastic and I'm learning a lot from them every day.
"I've been a professional footballer for 12 years now and there's no doubt I'm learning new things and progressing with David Moyes.
"It goes too far when people start suggesting, amongst other things, that I have a bad understanding with the manager. That's not true at all.
"I can tell you that Moyes' sessions and the things he says in his team meetings are spot-on. I really enjoy working under him and I'm absolutely convinced things will pick up and we'll turn it around.
"There is mutual respect between us and the work environment is actually good. He really wants things to work here at Manchester United and I want the same, just like the other players. We're all working hard to make this work."
